Ibiza Airport

Ibiza Airport is a fully coordinated (Level 3) airport, which means slots are mandatory year-round and must be booked well in advance. In peak summer (late June through early September), slot availability tightens sharply and lead times of several weeks are standard. Operators who arrive without a confirmed slot face potential fines or denial of landing clearance. Plan accordingly and confirm slots with your operator or handling agent early.

The airport has a noise curfew that restricts movements in the late night and early morning hours. Departures and arrivals are limited after approximately 11pm local time, which affects late-night party transfers off the island. If your schedule runs late, confirm whether your specific movement time is feasible before committing.

Ground handling for private aviation is available through FBOs on the south side of the airfield. The private terminal is separate from the commercial terminal, which handles over eight million passengers annually in summer and can make ground-side access congested. Use your handling agent for ramp-to-vehicle transfers to avoid the commercial terminal entirely.

Customs and immigration are available at the airport. Ibiza is within the Schengen Area, so EU passport holders arriving from other Schengen countries pass through without border checks, but non-Schengen arrivals (including the UK post-Brexit) require full entry processing.

Ibiza Town is 7km northeast of the airport, about 15 minutes by car. San Antonio, on the west coast, is roughly 15km away and takes 20 to 25 minutes depending on summer traffic. Santa Eulalia on the east coast runs about 20km and 25 minutes. The island is small enough that no destination takes more than 40 minutes by road. Prebooked car services and private transfers are widely available and strongly recommended in July and August when taxi queues at the commercial terminal are long. If you are continuing to Formentera, the ferry port in Ibiza Town is the connection point, with crossings taking 25 to 35 minutes depending on the service.
