Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport

Alicante-Elche handles over 15 million passengers per year, making it one of Spain's busiest airports. Private and charter traffic uses the general aviation apron on the south side of the airfield. The FBO facilities are functional but not luxurious. During summer (June through September), the airport is heavily congested with commercial traffic. Slot coordination is required during peak periods, and ground handling turnaround times can extend significantly in July and August. Plan arrival and departure windows carefully if scheduling around events on the Costa Blanca.

The airport has full customs and immigration facilities, handling international arrivals from outside the Schengen zone without issue. It is open around the clock, though private terminal staffing varies outside business hours. Handling agents should be confirmed in advance for late-night or early-morning movements.

Alicante city center is 9km from the terminal, around 15 minutes by car outside peak hours. Benidorm is 50km north, typically 40 to 50 minutes. Murcia city is 80km south, about one hour. Valencia is 165km north, roughly 90 minutes on the AP-7 toll motorway. Several car hire companies operate from the airport, and private transfer services are widely available. There is no helicopter transfer infrastructure at the airport itself.
