Tuscaloosa National Airport

Tuscaloosa National Airport is the go-to arrival point for University of Alabama events. During home football weekends, the airport handles a surge of charter and private traffic that can rival much larger facilities. If you're flying in for a game, coordinate with the FBO well in advance and expect ramp congestion, limited parking, and slower ground handling than a typical weekend.

Outside of football season, KTCL is a quiet, uncongested airport. There are no slot requirements, no scheduled commercial traffic, and ramp access is straightforward. The single runway (4/22) is approximately 6,500 feet, which accommodates most light and midsize jets without issue. Larger heavy jets should confirm performance requirements before booking.

The airport does not have customs or international arrival capabilities. All international flights must clear customs at a designated port of entry before landing here.

Downtown Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama campus are about 5 miles from the airport, a 10-minute drive under normal conditions. On game days, that drive can extend significantly depending on road closures and traffic near Bryant-Denny Stadium. Car service and rental cars are the primary ground options. Birmingham is roughly 55 miles east on I-20/59, about a 50-minute drive.
