Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport

Louisville Muhammad Ali International is a full commercial airport with dedicated FBO ramp access for private aviation. The airport runs around the clock, driven by the UPS Worldport hub on the south side of the field, one of the world's largest air cargo sorting facilities. That infrastructure means no curfew and no overnight restrictions for private operators.

There are no slot requirements, and private aircraft use separate ramp facilities from the commercial terminals. During Kentucky Derby week in early May, ramp space and hangar availability tighten considerably. FBOs recommend booking ground services well in advance for that period, as demand from private aviation spikes harder than almost any other domestic event outside the Super Bowl.

CBP maintains a presence at KSDF given the international cargo volume at Worldport. International private arrivals should arrange clearance in advance through their FBO or handling agent.

Downtown Louisville is 5 miles north of the airport, 10 to 15 minutes by car in normal traffic. Churchill Downs is roughly 3 miles away, under 10 minutes. Major rental car agencies operate at the airport, and car service can be arranged through the FBO. Uber and Lyft serve the airport with standard pickup at the FBO entrance.

Lexington is approximately 80 miles east on I-64, about 75 minutes by car. For guests attending events in the Bluegrass horse country region, the drive is straightforward on the interstate with no major congestion outside of Derby week.
