Santa Fe Municipal Airport

KSAF sits at 6,348 feet elevation, which affects aircraft performance calculations for departures. Pilots and operators account for the density altitude on warm days, but for passengers the elevation is invisible on the ground. The airport has a single runway (20/02) at 8,366 feet, sufficient for most cabin-class jets including heavy aircraft.

There is no commercial airline traffic at KSAF. That means no TSA queues, no gate holds, and no shared terminals. You arrive by car, walk to the FBO, and board. Departures work the same way in reverse. Santa Fe does not have slot controls or prior permission requirements.

The airport is a practical alternative to flying into Albuquerque (KABQ) and driving 65 miles north. For travelers going to Santa Fe itself, Taos, or northern New Mexico mountain destinations, KSAF saves roughly 90 minutes each way compared to an Albuquerque arrival.

Downtown Santa Fe's historic Plaza is 8 miles from the airport, a 15 to 20 minute drive depending on traffic. Most FBOs can arrange car service or rental cars on request. Taos is about 75 miles north, roughly 90 minutes by car via US-84. Ski Santa Fe is approximately 20 miles from the airport, about 30 to 35 minutes in ski season conditions.

Albuquerque is 65 miles south on I-25, about an hour's drive. There is no helicopter transfer service operating at KSAF.
