About Sheltair
Sheltair at Melbourne Orlando International Airport provides full FBO services on Florida's Space Coast, with a modern terminal and expanding hangar complex that reflects the region's growing importance as a technology and aerospace hub. The facility holds both CAA Preferred and NATA Safety 1st certifications, placing it among the more rigorously vetted FBOs in the Southeast.
The 12,400-square-foot terminal and office space connects to two large-cabin-class hangars totaling 52,000 square feet, with Sheltair's total footprint at Melbourne exceeding 250,000 square feet. The terminal includes an executive boardroom, flight planning room, comfortable passenger lounges, and complimentary refreshments. Hertz rental cars are available on site, and the staff arranges crew cars, shuttle services, catering, and hotel reservations.
U.S. Customs is available for international arrivals, making Melbourne a practical clearance point for flights from the Bahamas and Caribbean that want to avoid the congestion at Orlando International or Fort Lauderdale.
Melbourne's location provides access to a distinct set of destinations. Kennedy Space Center is about 40 minutes north, and passengers visiting for launches or SpaceX operations frequently use this airport. Patrick Space Force Base is nearby. Port Canaveral, a major cruise terminal, is about 35 minutes away. The beach communities of Melbourne Beach, Indialantic, and Satellite Beach are 15 minutes east.
The airport has two runways, with the longest at 10,181 feet, handling any business jet. The field is about 60 miles southeast of Orlando, making it a reasonable alternative for passengers heading to the Space Coast side of the metro area rather than the theme parks.
Sheltair has served Florida's Space Coast for over 30 years and recently completed new T-hangars spanning 34,500 square feet, expanding general aviation capacity further.
