Concord-Padgett Regional Airport

Concord-Padgett sits in the northeast corner of the Charlotte metro and works well as a private aviation alternative to Charlotte Douglas International (KCLT), which is one of the busiest airports in the country. Traffic at KJQF is a fraction of what you'll find at Douglas, and there are no slot requirements or commercial airline congestion to work around.

The airport is a natural choice for anyone visiting the Charlotte Motor Speedway complex, which is within walking distance. During NASCAR race weekends, ramp space fills up fast and advance coordination with your FBO is essential. Outside of race weekends, KJQF is low-friction: quick taxi times, easy parking, and straightforward FBO service without the delays that can stack up at Douglas.

The field is uncontrolled at certain hours, so confirm with your FBO on current tower hours before arrival, especially for late-night or early-morning operations.

Charlotte uptown is about 15 miles southwest, typically 25 to 35 minutes by car depending on traffic. Concord Mills, one of the largest malls in the Southeast, is 3 miles away. Car service from Charlotte-area providers is the standard option; rideshare pickup is available but less consistent than at Douglas.

Charlotte Motor Speedway is roughly 1.5 miles from the terminal, making KJQF the obvious fly-in choice for race events. For destinations farther into the region, including Lake Norman (30 miles north) or Pinehurst (75 miles east), a rental car or pre-arranged car service is the practical choice.
