Chautauqua County-Jamestown Airport

KJHW is a county-owned general aviation airport that handles charter and private traffic for southwestern New York. The airport sits at roughly 1,700 feet elevation and has a single paved runway. There are no slot requirements and no commercial airline competition for ramp space, which makes arrivals and departures straightforward. FBO services are available on-site.

The primary draw for private passengers is the Chautauqua Lake area, particularly the Chautauqua Institution, which runs a major summer program of lectures, concerts, and performances from late June through August. During that season, demand for charter arrivals increases noticeably. Outside the Institution's season, the area is quieter and the airport is uncongested year-round.

Downtown Jamestown is about 4 miles from the airport, a 10-minute drive. The Chautauqua Institution on the western shore of Chautauqua Lake is approximately 18 miles, about 25 minutes by car. Buffalo Niagara International Airport is 60 miles northeast, roughly an hour's drive if you need connecting commercial flights. Erie, PA is about 45 miles west, a 45-minute drive. Rental cars are the standard option; car service is available but advance booking is advisable in a market this size.
