Tweed New Haven sits 3 miles from downtown New Haven in a mixed-use coastal area, giving private passengers a fast transfer to Yale University, the New Haven Green, and the surrounding Connecticut shoreline. The airport handles both commercial and private traffic on a single runway, so expect some sequencing during peak commercial departure windows, particularly Avelo flights in the morning and afternoon.

For private passengers, the FBO ramp is separate from the commercial terminal. The facility is compact by design, which works in your favor: wheels-down to car in under 10 minutes is typical. The airport does not have the slot or customs infrastructure of larger New England reliever airports, so international arrivals requiring customs clearance should plan to clear at Bradley International (BDL) or TEB instead.

Downtown New Haven is roughly 10 minutes by car from the ramp. Yale's central campus is within that same window. Hartford is about 45 miles north via I-91, running 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. Midtown Manhattan is 75 miles southwest, typically 1.5 to 2 hours by car or hired car depending on I-95 congestion through Bridgeport and Greenwich.
