Glacier Park International Airport

KGPI is the main private aviation airport for the Flathead Valley, handling traffic for Glacier National Park, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and the broader northwest Montana recreation corridor. The airport sits at 2,977 feet MSL with a single primary runway (2/20) at 9,006 feet, long enough for heavy cabin jets without restriction. There are no slot requirements and no commercial congestion issues that affect private operations.

The FBO ramp is uncongested outside of summer peak season, when Glacier National Park draws heavy leisure traffic from late June through August. If you're flying in during that window, call ahead to confirm ramp availability and fuel scheduling. Winter traffic concentrates around ski season at Whitefish, typically December through March. The rest of the year the airport is quiet.

Downtown Kalispell is 3 miles from the terminal, about 8 minutes by car. Whitefish and the base of Whitefish Mountain Resort are 17 miles north, roughly 20 minutes. The West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park is 32 miles northeast, about 40 minutes. The St. Mary entrance on the east side of the park is 90 miles, closer to 100 minutes. Rental cars are available at the airport from the major national agencies. Private car service options exist but the market is thin; book in advance if you need a town car or SUV transfer.
