Coeur D'Alene Airport - Pappy Boyington Field

Coeur d'Alene Airport sits at 2,320 feet on a plateau just west of the lake, giving private passengers direct access to the resort area without backtracking from Spokane International. The airport is named for Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, the Coeur d'Alene-born WWII fighter ace. For anyone headed to the Coeur d'Alene Resort, the lake, or Schweitzer Mountain, landing here saves 30-plus minutes of driving each way compared to Spokane.

The airport operates with a single runway and one FBO. No slot requirements. Traffic picks up during summer lake season (June through September) and winter ski weekends when Schweitzer draws visitors from Seattle and the broader Pacific Northwest. Runway length accommodates most mid-size and large-cabin jets without restriction.

Downtown Coeur d'Alene is 2 miles from the terminal, about 5 minutes by car. The Coeur d'Alene Resort on the lakefront is 4 miles, under 10 minutes. Schweitzer Mountain Resort is 47 miles north via US-95, roughly 55 minutes. Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg is 28 miles east on I-90, about 30 minutes. Spokane city center is 35 miles west, around 40 minutes via I-90.

Car rental is available at the airport. Uber and Lyft operate in the Coeur d'Alene area, and the resort runs its own shuttle service for guests.
