Yellowstone Regional Airport

Yellowstone Regional sits at 5,102 feet elevation, which affects aircraft performance and fuel planning, particularly for jets operating near their climb limits in summer heat. Pilots and operators account for density altitude year-round here. For passengers, the practical effect is that some smaller turboprops may have payload or range restrictions on hot July days.

The airport sees its heaviest traffic from late June through August, when Yellowstone tourism peaks. Private traffic during this window can fill the ramp, so confirming hangar or tie-down space with the FBO in advance is worth doing. Outside peak summer, the airport is quiet and uncongested.

The FBO offers standard services: fuel, ground power, and crew car availability. There is no customs facility on field, so international arrivals require a customs stop elsewhere before landing at KCOD.

Downtown Cody is about 2 miles from the terminal, a 5-minute drive. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West and most hotels are under 10 minutes by car. Rental cars are available at the airport from multiple agencies.

Yellowstone's east entrance is 52 miles west via US-14/16/20, typically about 55 to 60 minutes in normal conditions. Note that the road through Wapiti Valley can be affected by wildlife and construction delays in summer. Jackson Hole is roughly 80 miles southeast via Togwotee Pass (US-26/287), about 90 minutes in good conditions, but this route crosses a mountain pass that can close or require chains in winter and early spring.
