About Beacon Air Group

Beacon Air Group opened its Cody, Wyoming FBO in the summer of 2025, bringing a fresh option for private aviation passengers using Yellowstone Regional Airport. The facility operates out of a renovated 3,000-square-foot building that previously housed a corporate flight department, and it marks Beacon Air Group's second FBO location after its Billings, Montana debut in December 2023.

The terminal includes a business center, a conference room with seating for 20, and concierge services for arriving passengers. Long-term vehicle parking is available for aircraft owners who base their planes at the field, and the staff coordinates ground transportation, hotel bookings, and activity planning throughout the region. Beacon Air Group also provides hangar space, aircraft detailing, and charter management solutions.

Owner Joel Simmons has deep ties to the Cody airport, having developed the last 14 hangars on the field prior to launching the FBO brand. That local knowledge translates into practical advantages for passengers, from knowing which routes to Yellowstone's east entrance are open during shoulder seasons to arranging transportation to the town's western heritage attractions.

Yellowstone Regional Airport sits about 53 miles from Yellowstone's east entrance, making Cody one of the closest private aviation gateways to the park. The town itself offers the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, guest ranches, and fly-fishing on the Shoshone River. For charter passengers seeking a western wilderness experience without the crowds and long drives associated with Jackson Hole, flying into Cody through Beacon Air Group provides a more relaxed and personal arrival. The company is exploring additional developments at the airport as demand grows.

Operations at Yellowstone Regional Airport

Downtown Cody is about 2 miles from the terminal, a 5-minute drive. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West and most hotels are under 10 minutes by car. Rental cars are available at the airport from multiple agencies. Yellowstone's east entrance is 52 miles west via US-14/16/20, typically about 55 to 60 minutes in normal conditions. Note that the road through Wapiti Valley can be affected by wildlife and construction delays in summer. Jackson Hole is roughly 80 miles southeast via Togwotee Pass (US-26/287), about 90 minutes in good conditions, but this route crosses a mountain pass that can close or require chains in winter and early spring.
