Astoria Regional Airport

Astoria Regional Airport sits on a bench above the Columbia River estuary, roughly four miles east of downtown Astoria. It handles general aviation and charter traffic for the northern Oregon coast, an area that would otherwise require a 95-mile drive from Portland International.

The airport has no slot requirements and no significant congestion. FBO services are available on the field. Instrument approaches exist for the frequent coastal fog and low ceilings that characterize this part of Oregon, particularly from fall through spring. If you are planning a trip around weather, build in flexibility.

Kenmore Air operates scheduled floatplane service in the Pacific Northwest, which gives KAST connectivity to Seattle and the San Juan Islands for passengers who want to combine modes. For pure charter ops, the airport is straightforward with no unusual restrictions.

Downtown Astoria is about four miles west of the airport, roughly ten minutes by car. Seaside and Cannon Beach are 17 and 25 miles south respectively, around 25-35 minutes via US-101. The Long Beach Peninsula in Washington is about 25 miles north across the Astoria-Megler Bridge. Portland is 95 miles southeast, typically 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours by car depending on traffic through the Coast Range.

Car rentals are available at the airport. Ride-share coverage is limited in Astoria, so arranging a car service in advance is the more reliable option for onward travel.
