Ostend-Bruges International Airport

Ostend-Bruges sits on the Belgian North Sea coast and is one of the least congested international airports in the Benelux region. Slots are not required for private aircraft, and ramp access is straightforward compared to Brussels or Amsterdam. The airport handles both general aviation and cargo traffic, with a dedicated FBO operation for private flights.

Customs and immigration are available on site, making it a practical entry point for transatlantic or intercontinental arrivals routing into Belgium. The terminal for private aviation is separate from commercial operations. Ground handling quality is consistent with what you'd expect at a mid-size Belgian airport.

Night operations are available but subject to noise abatement procedures after 11pm local time. Check with your operator for specific restrictions on heavier aircraft categories during late-night or early-morning movements.

Bruges city center is 25km east, roughly 25 to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic. Brussels is approximately 115km away, around 75 to 90 minutes by car or private transfer. Ghent is about 60km southeast, under an hour. Car hire is available at the airport, and private transfer services operate out of both Bruges and Ostend. There is no direct rail link from the airport itself, but Ostend train station is about 4km away with frequent connections to Bruges and Brussels.
