Kenora Airport

Kenora Airport sits about 4 km east of downtown Kenora, a small city of roughly 15,000 on the eastern shore of Lake of the Woods. For private aviation, the airport is the practical entry point for the entire Lake of the Woods region, which has thousands of islands and hundreds of remote fishing and hunting camps reachable only by floatplane or charter. CYQK has a paved runway and handles general aviation and charter traffic without the congestion common at busier regional airports.

The terminal is small and the FBO experience is straightforward. Fuel, tie-downs, and basic ground handling are available. There are no slot requirements or noise curfews to navigate. The airport is not a designated port of entry for international customs, so US-originating flights need to plan accordingly, either pre-clearing at a port of entry or routing through one before landing.

Downtown Kenora is about 4 km from the airport, a 5-minute drive. Car rentals are available locally. Winnipeg, the nearest major city, is approximately 200 km west via the Trans-Canada Highway, roughly a 2-hour drive. Thunder Bay is about 480 km to the east. For most visitors, the airport is a jumping-off point rather than a final destination, with floatplane charters or boat transfers continuing on to remote lake properties.
