About Kenora Airport Authority
Kenora Airport Authority operates the FBO at Kenora Airport, the gateway to northwestern Ontario's Lake of the Woods region. The airport underwent a significant terminal reconstruction in 2018, modernizing the infrastructure for both commercial and general aviation visitors. The facility provides fuel services through AvFuel and World Fuel, and Canada Border Services Agency officers are available on a call-out basis for international arrivals, handling general aviation aircraft with up to 15 passengers. The airport has a single 5,800-foot asphalt runway that accommodates most business jet types. Located at 1561 Airport Road, the airport sits just minutes from the town of Kenora on the shore of Lake of the Woods. For charter passengers, this airport serves as the starting point for accessing the region's extensive network of fishing lodges, private lake cabins, and wilderness resorts. Amphibious Cessna Caravans operate from the airport, providing transfers directly from the runway to fly-in destinations throughout the surrounding wilderness. The Kenora Harbourfront also supports floatplane operations for water-based departures. The terminal building includes a pilots lounge and basic passenger waiting area. Ground transport options are limited compared to larger airports, so pre-arranging a rental car or lodge transfer is recommended. The town of Kenora itself has hotels, restaurants, and outfitters for passengers staging their onward trip. Summer is the peak season, with fishing, boating, and cottage visitors driving most of the private aviation traffic.

Operations at Kenora Airport
Downtown Kenora is about 4 km from the airport, a 5-minute drive. Car rentals are available locally. Winnipeg, the nearest major city, is approximately 200 km west via the Trans-Canada Highway, roughly a 2-hour drive. Thunder Bay is about 480 km to the east. For most visitors, the airport is a jumping-off point rather than a final destination, with floatplane charters or boat transfers continuing on to remote lake properties.
