Quebec Jean Lesage International Airport

CYQB handles both scheduled commercial and private charter traffic. As a designated international airport, Canada Border Services Agency officers are on-site for customs and immigration clearance on cross-border arrivals, which makes it the practical choice for US-originating private flights into Quebec City.

The airport sits on the western edge of the city. Private and charter operations share the field with Air Canada and other commercial carriers, so expect some scheduling awareness during peak times, particularly during Quebec Winter Carnival (late January through early February) and the summer tourist season when Old Quebec draws heavy visitor traffic.

Quebec City is the provincial capital and a French-speaking city with a distinct character. The airport is also a common arrival point for ski trips: Mont-Sainte-Anne is about 25 miles to the northeast, and Le Massif de Charlevoix is roughly 50 miles up the St. Lawrence. Winter operations are well-handled given the climate, but plan for de-icing time on cold-weather departures.

Old Quebec and the historic core are about 11 miles east of the airport. The drive on Autoroute 40 takes 20 to 25 minutes in normal conditions. Car service and taxi options are available at the terminal. During winter carnival or major events, allow extra time. There is no helicopter transfer service between the airport and city.
