Hilo International Airport (PHTO) on the island's east coast serves the Hilo and Puna districts. It's rarely used for luxury private aviation -- Hilo is the agricultural and administrative side of the island, not the resort corridor. Aircraft bound for Mauna Kea Observatory or eastern side properties occasionally use PHTO, but Kona is the primary private jet gateway.
