Norman Manley International Airport

Norman Manley International Airport occupies the Palisadoes, a narrow spit of land separating Kingston Harbour from the Caribbean Sea. The geography is striking and the approach over water is one of the more memorable in the region. For private aviation, the airport handles international arrivals and departures with customs and immigration on-site, making it the practical choice for inbound and outbound charter flights to Kingston.

The airport is Jamaica's second-busiest after Montego Bay, but private traffic moves through the general aviation area separately from commercial terminals. Operators with active programs here include EXECUFLIGHT and Worldwide Jet Charter. If you are considering flying into the north coast instead, Ian Fleming International (MKBS) near Ocho Rios is 60 miles by road and better positioned for that side of the island.

From the airport to New Kingston, the upscale commercial and hotel district, is roughly 12 miles by road and takes 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. The Palisadoes causeway feeds into Marcus Garvey Drive, which can back up during peak hours. Downtown Kingston is closer at about 8 miles. Car service and taxis are the standard options. There is no rail connection. For guests heading to the north coast resorts, a helicopter transfer is the practical alternative to the 2-hour road trip to Montego Bay.
