Abruzzo Airport

Abruzzo Airport sits directly on the Adriatic coast at the edge of Pescara, one of the few Italian regional airports where the runway effectively meets the sea. For private aviation, it offers a practical alternative to Rome or Naples when the destination is the Abruzzo region, the Gran Sasso massif, or the central Adriatic coast.

The airport operates commercial and general aviation traffic on a single runway. It is a designated customs airport for non-Schengen arrivals, which makes it viable for transatlantic or non-EU routing without a technical stop. Slot requirements are standard for Italian airspace. The GA facilities are modest by northern European standards, with handling managed by local FBOs rather than a dedicated executive terminal.

Italy imposes noise abatement procedures at most airports, and LIBP is no exception. Night operations are restricted, so late evening arrivals or early departures should be confirmed with your handler well in advance.

Pescara city center is 4 km from the terminal, roughly 10 minutes by car. Dedicated car services and taxis are available curbside. L'Aquila, the regional capital, is approximately 100 km west via the A25 autostrada, about 1 hour 20 minutes in normal traffic. Rome is 210 km southwest, around 2.5 hours by car or 1 hour 10 minutes on the Frecciaargento high-speed train from Pescara Centrale station, which is 5 km from the airport. Chieti is 15 km inland, under 20 minutes.
