Falls International Airport

Falls International sits at the northern edge of Minnesota, roughly 3 miles from downtown International Falls and directly adjacent to the Canadian border. It is one of the few commercial-capable airports in this part of the state, which makes it the practical choice for private flights into the Boundary Waters and Voyageurs National Park region. The airport holds US Customs and Border Protection designation, so it functions as an official port of entry for flights arriving from Canada.

The airport is uncongested. No slot requirements, no noise curfews on record, and FBO services are available for fuel and handling. Winter operations are routine here given the climate. International Falls holds the distinction of recording some of the coldest temperatures in the contiguous United States, so plan for de-icing services from late October through April. The runway is maintained year-round and IFR approaches are available.

The airport is about 3 miles from downtown International Falls. Car rental is available on-site. Fort Frances, Ontario is less than a mile across the International Bridge from downtown, making this airport the logical entry point for passengers whose destination is in northwestern Ontario. Voyageurs National Park is accessible from multiple boat launches within 10 miles of the airport. Duluth is approximately 165 miles south on US-53, about a 2.5-hour drive. Minneapolis is roughly 310 miles south, around 5 hours by road.
