About Million Air Birmingham

Million Air Birmingham took over the East Ramp FBO at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in June 2023, bringing a $32 million investment plan to what had been an aging facility with hangars dating to the 1960s and 1970s. The current operation provides full-service ground handling, fueling, and passenger services while a major construction program is underway. Plans call for a new 10,000-square-foot terminal designed with steel and red brick elements that pay tribute to Birmingham's iron and steel heritage. Three new hangars totaling 94,000 square feet will replace the existing structures, including a 24,000-square-foot hangar for smaller privately owned aircraft and two 30,000-square-foot corporate hangars. When complete, the terminal will feature a Starbucks with staffed baristas, Mercedes crew cars, valet parking for customer vehicles, a pilot's lounge, on-site Hertz rental cars, and dedicated concierge services. Million Air's entry into the Birmingham market gives charter passengers a second FBO option on a field that was previously served only by Atlantic Aviation. Competition between the two operators is driving significant investment on both sides of the airport. Birmingham is Alabama's economic center, home to the University of Alabama at Birmingham's nationally ranked medical center, the headquarters of several regional banks and utilities, and a growing technology sector. The airport is about 5 miles from downtown, making it quick to reach the city's restaurants, hotels, and business offices. For charter passengers, Million Air's combination of new investment and the Million Air brand's service standards promises a much-improved East Ramp experience as construction progresses.
