Asheville Regional Airport

Asheville Regional sits at 2,165 feet elevation in Fletcher, NC, south of the city. That elevation matters: summer density altitude conditions can affect aircraft performance and payload, so operators flying smaller jets or turboprops in July and August plan accordingly. The airport shares runways with commercial carriers (American, Delta, United), but private traffic uses the general aviation ramp and FBO facilities on the west side of the field without the congestion of a major hub.

No slots or prior permissions are required for private operations. The airport is not a US Customs Port of Entry, so international arrivals must clear customs elsewhere before landing at AVL. This is a practical limitation for transatlantic or Caribbean routing that passengers should plan around.

Downtown Asheville is about 12 miles north via I-26, a drive of roughly 20 minutes in normal traffic. Biltmore Estate is closer, approximately 9 miles from the terminal, and takes 15 minutes. Black car and car service options are available with advance booking through the FBO. Rental cars are on-site. There is no helicopter transfer service operating from AVL.
