Inverness Airport

Inverness Airport is the primary entry point for private aviation into the Scottish Highlands. The airport sits on flat ground east of the city and handles a mix of scheduled regional traffic and private charters, keeping operations straightforward compared to busier Scottish airports.

Woodgate Aviation handles general aviation ground services at EGPE. The airport has customs and immigration facilities, useful for flights arriving from outside the UK. Slot requirements are generally not an issue, but coordinating with handlers in advance is advisable during peak summer months when Highland estate visits and golf travel increase traffic.

The airport is well-suited as a staging point for Highland estate stays, shooting and fishing trips, whisky distillery tours, and golf at Royal Dornoch or Castle Stuart. It also serves as a base for onward travel deeper into the Highlands by car.

Inverness city centre is 8 miles west of the airport, a 15 to 20 minute drive. Taxis are available at the terminal and car hire desks operate on-site. Castle Stuart Golf Links is approximately 2 miles from the airport. Royal Dornoch is 50 miles north, roughly an hour by road. For guests heading to remote Highland estates, a pre-arranged vehicle with a local driver is the standard approach as public transport becomes limited outside the city.
