Gloucestershire Airport

Gloucestershire Airport is a dedicated general and business aviation airfield with no scheduled commercial traffic. That means no queues, no shared terminals with leisure passengers, and a straightforward ground experience. The airport is the natural choice for access to Cheltenham, particularly during the racing festival season when road congestion around Cheltenham Racecourse makes air access significantly more practical.

The airport is operated as a private airfield with FBO services available through Regency Jet. Slots are generally not required outside of peak event periods, but during Cheltenham Festival week in March, demand spikes sharply and early coordination with handlers is advisable. The airport handles a range of turboprops and light jets comfortably. Runway 04/22 is the main paved runway at approximately 1,250 metres, which limits it to smaller and mid-size aircraft.

Cheltenham town centre is about 4 miles from the airport, a 10-15 minute drive in normal traffic. Gloucester city centre is roughly 6 miles south, around 15 minutes. Pre-arranged car service is the standard transfer option; the airport does not have significant public transport links. The Cotswolds are within easy reach: Bourton-on-the-Water is about 20 miles east (30 minutes), Burford around 25 miles (35 minutes), and Cirencester about 18 miles south-east. Oxford is approximately 45 miles, typically 55-70 minutes by road. Bristol is around 40 miles south via the M5.
