About Universal Aviation Cancun
Universal Aviation operates within the general aviation terminal at Cancun International Airport, one of Mexico's busiest airports and the primary gateway to the Yucatan Peninsula's resort destinations. The facility features an airside VIP lounge, ground handling services, and a team that manages permits coordination, customs assistance, and all logistical requirements for international private flights.
Universal's Cancun team is bilingual and highly trained, with two agents working simultaneously on each operation to ensure passengers and crew receive continuous attention. The company has operated in Mexico for more than 30 years, and the Cancun facility benefits from that institutional knowledge of Mexican aviation regulations and airport procedures.
The FBO handles fueling, aircraft parking, catering from local providers, and ground transportation to the hotel zone, Riviera Maya, and beyond. The concierge team coordinates luxury car transfers, hotel reservations, restaurant bookings, and excursions to destinations like Chichen Itza, Tulum, and the cenotes of the Yucatan interior.
Cancun International Airport handles over 30 million commercial passengers annually, which makes the general aviation terminal an important refuge from the congestion of the main terminals. The GA terminal provides a dedicated environment for private jet passengers, though the high overall airport traffic means advance coordination of parking positions is recommended during peak holiday periods.
The Cancun hotel zone is about 20 minutes from the airport, while Playa del Carmen is roughly an hour south. Tulum, which has become one of Mexico's most popular luxury travel destinations, is about two hours by car, though the new Tulum International Airport now offers a closer option for that market.
For charter passengers, Universal Aviation at Cancun provides the reliability of a major global handler in a high-demand Mexican resort market, with the customs expertise and ground logistics needed to start your Riviera Maya trip smoothly.

Operations at Cancún International Airport
The Hotel Zone (Zona Hotelera) runs along a barrier island about 10 miles northeast of the airport, typically a 20-25 minute drive on Highway 307. Downtown Cancún is roughly the same distance but in a different direction, about 15 minutes northwest. Playa del Carmen is 40 miles south, around 45-60 minutes by car depending on traffic. Tulum is 80 miles south, about 90 minutes. Private car service and SUV transfers are the standard option from the GA terminal, and most FBOs can arrange them directly. Helicopter transfers to properties along the Riviera Maya are possible but not commonly offered as a standard service from this airport.
