About Adirondack Regional Airport FBO

The town-operated FBO at Adirondack Regional Airport provides private aviation access to the north-central Adirondack Park from a facility located two miles from Lake Clear and about 10 miles from the village of Saranac Lake. The airport, owned by the Town of Harrietstown, offers full-service Jet A and 100LL fueling, limited heated and unheated hangar space, tie-down services, ground power units, and Type I and IV deicing.

The terminal provides basic traveler amenities with a focus on getting passengers to their Adirondack destinations efficiently. Rental car and ground transportation services are available, along with free parking. The airport also maintains daily Cape Air service to both Boston Logan and JFK, which can be useful for passengers needing commercial connections.

The Adirondack region draws private aviation traffic year-round, though activity peaks during summer months when Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and the surrounding wilderness attract visitors for hiking, fishing, canoeing, and the Lake Placid resort scene. Winter brings cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice climbing. Lake Placid, site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, is about 20 minutes by car. The area's Great Camps tradition and lakefront estates have long attracted affluent families who fly in for extended stays.

The primary runway, 5/23, stretches 6,573 feet at an elevation of 1,663 feet and handles light and midsize jets. This is a small-town FBO without luxury lounges or concierge desks, but the staff provides friendly, hands-on service. For passengers heading into the Adirondacks, landing at SLK puts you inside the park boundary rather than driving hours from Albany or Burlington.
