About Dundee Airport Handling
Dundee Airport Handling is the airport-operated handling service at Dundee, managed by Dundee Airport Limited, a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) since 2007. This is not a traditional FBO with a dedicated private terminal; rather, the airport operations team provides aircraft handling and refueling services for visiting general aviation and business aircraft. All aircraft outside the private light aircraft category must be handled by the Dundee Airport team, with prior notification required through a PPR (Prior Permission Required) form. Self-handling is only permitted for private light aircraft with advance notice. Jet A1 refueling is provided directly by Dundee Airport Ltd. Customs and immigration are available by appointment, requiring advance arrangement for international flights. The runway at Dundee measures 1,400 meters, which accommodates light jets and smaller midsize jets but limits access for larger business aircraft. Despite the modest facilities, Dundee offers a practical arrival point for charter passengers heading to the city of Dundee, St Andrews, the Angus coast, or Perthshire. St Andrews, home of golf, is approximately 15 miles from the airport and reachable in about 25 minutes by road. The airport's city-center proximity (just two miles from central Dundee) is a significant advantage for passengers who need to be downtown quickly. For charter passengers, Dundee works best for smaller aircraft operations where the primary goal is getting close to the destination with minimal ground travel. The handling service is basic compared to dedicated FBOs at larger Scottish airports, but the team manages the essentials competently. Passengers should expect a functional rather than premium experience.
