Conference week in July is when the highest-frequency private jet traffic of the year arrives at KSUN, and the outbound legs that Monday and Tuesday are reliably available at below-market rates.

Friedman Memorial Airport (KSUN) in Hailey is the only airport serving the Sun Valley area. It sits at 5,318 feet elevation, 13 miles south of the resort via Highway 75. The runway is 9,002 feet, which accommodates heavy jets with appropriate weight and performance calculations. Sun Valley Aviation operates the primary FBO. Ramp space is limited relative to peak demand: Allen & Company conference week in July and the Presidents' Day ski weekend in February are the two tightest periods. Pre-arranging parking is necessary for either.

Ground transportation from KSUN to the resort takes 20-25 minutes on a clear day. In winter, Highway 75 through the Wood River Valley is generally well-maintained but mountain conditions apply. Blaine County road conditions can occasionally affect timing for morning departures.

No alternate airport exists within practical driving distance. Boise (KBOI) is 150 miles south and adds two-plus hours of road travel. When KSUN is weather-closed, operators must hold at Boise or Twin Falls and wait. This isolation is worth factoring into scheduling: unlike Jackson Hole or Aspen, there is no nearby alternative that keeps the trip viable on instrument meteorological condition days.
