About Jet Aviation Cairns
Jet Aviation operates an IS-BAH Stage 2 certified FBO at Cairns International Airport, located just six kilometers from downtown Cairns in Queensland's tropical north. The facility has been serving private aviation in the region since 2018 and provides comprehensive ground support alongside maintenance services for regional aircraft types.
The FBO handles the full scope of private jet arrivals, from marshalling and fueling to customs, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) coordination for international flights. Cairns International is a port of entry for aircraft arriving from Papua New Guinea, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands, making CIQ processing a regular part of operations. The IS-BAH Stage 2 certification signals that the facility meets international best practices for safety management in ground handling.
In addition to ground handling, the Cairns facility offers maintenance and avionics services, primarily focused on regional airliner types including the Dash-8, ATR 42/72, SAAB 340, and Fokker 70/100. While this maintenance capability is geared toward commercial operators, the presence of technical staff and equipment on site can be an advantage if a private jet encounters a minor technical issue during a ground stop.
Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world's most significant natural attractions, along with the Daintree Rainforest, the oldest tropical rainforest on Earth. The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is visible from the FBO and takes visitors over the canopy to the village of Kuranda. Private jet passengers arriving in Cairns are typically headed for reef diving and snorkeling trips, luxury lodges in the Atherton Tablelands, or onward flights to remote Cape York and Torres Strait destinations.
