About Island Air
Island Air operates as the primary FBO at Owen Roberts International Airport's General Aviation Terminal on Grand Cayman, handling the majority of private aircraft movements on behalf of the Cayman Islands Airports Authority. The facility sits adjacent to the general aviation customs and immigration arrivals building, providing a tightly integrated arrival experience.
The FBO includes a 12,000-square-foot hangar for aircraft storage and maintenance, along with ground handling, fueling with both Jet A and avgas, and standard ramp services. The General Aviation Terminal provides lounges and facilities for both passengers and crew, separated from the commercial terminal where the island's heavy tourist traffic flows.
It is worth noting that Island Air's ownership has changed in recent years. Ross Aviation acquired the operation in 2019, and Atlantic Aviation subsequently took over the facility. The physical infrastructure and core services have remained consistent through these transitions.
Owen Roberts Airport operates 24 hours daily, and Grand Cayman's position as one of the Caribbean's most important financial centers drives steady business aviation traffic year-round. The Cayman Islands are also a popular destination for yacht owners and diving enthusiasts, with the island's famous Seven Mile Beach, Stingray City, and world-class wall diving sites within minutes of the airport.
The airport is located in the capital, George Town, on the western side of Grand Cayman. Seven Mile Beach and its resort hotels are about 10 minutes north. The financial district is walking distance from the terminal.
For charter passengers, Island Air at Owen Roberts provides the essential FBO services needed for a smooth arrival in the Cayman Islands. The dedicated General Aviation Terminal separates private jet passengers from commercial travelers, and the on-site customs processing in the adjacent building keeps clearance times reasonable. The airport's 24-hour operations give flight departments flexibility for scheduling.
