Gibair Handling

Gibair Handling has been delivering ground handling operations at Gibraltar International Airport since 1947, making it one of the longest-serving aviation companies in the British Overseas Territory. As the sole FBO on the field, Gibair is the exclusive provider of ground handling services across five operational areas: ramp services, passenger services, cargo and mail, load control, and communication and flight operations.

The facility features a purpose-built General Aviation Wing with its own entrance, a dedicated security processing area, and various lounges designed for passenger comfort during processing. On-site customs and immigration allow private jet arrivals to clear all formalities within the FBO rather than passing through the main terminal.

Gibraltar Airport requires Prior Permission Required (PPR) for all private aviation operations, and Gibair's team coordinates this process along with all arrival and departure logistics. The airport operates within published hours only, with no extensions permitted, so flight departments need to plan schedules accordingly.

The airport itself occupies a unique position at the base of the Rock of Gibraltar, with the runway crossing Winston Churchill Avenue, the main road connecting Gibraltar to Spain. This means road traffic is stopped each time an aircraft takes off or lands, creating one of the more unusual airport experiences in the world.

Gibraltar sits at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, offering immediate access to both the British territory and the Spanish Costa del Sol. The border crossing into Spain at La Linea de la Concepcion connects to the A-7 highway, putting Marbella, Estepona, and Sotogrande within 30 to 60 minutes by car. For charter passengers, Gibraltar provides a convenient entry point to southern Spain with the added advantage of British administrative infrastructure and English-speaking services.
