About Signature Flight Support
Signature Flight Support operates at Sion Airport in Switzerland's Valais region, providing FBO services at one of the Alps' most strategically positioned private aviation fields for ski season travel. The facility was acquired from TAG Aviation as part of Signature's first entry into the Swiss market, bringing TAG's long-standing local expertise under the Signature brand.
The FBO encompasses a private terminal and hangar complex with on-site Swiss customs, allowing international arrivals to clear formalities without leaving the facility. Heated hangar space protects aircraft from the cold that defines Sion winters, when temperatures regularly drop well below freezing. Full FBO services include fueling, VIP handling, catering coordination, and ground transportation.
An adjacent heliport provides helicopter transfer connections that are particularly valuable for reaching Verbier, one of the Alps' premier ski resorts and the primary demand driver for Sion's private aviation traffic. Helicopter transfers to Verbier take roughly 10 minutes compared to a 45-minute drive on mountain roads. Crans-Montana and Zermatt, home of the Matterhorn, are also within reach, both about an hour by car.
Sion Airport's traffic pattern is heavily seasonal, with a pronounced peak from December through March during ski arrivals and minimal activity outside that window. The airport sits at 482 meters elevation in the Rhone Valley, flanked by vineyard-covered slopes and Alpine peaks. The runway measures 2,000 meters and can handle most business jet types, though operators should check specific performance requirements given the valley location.
For charter passengers heading to the Swiss Alps, Sion offers the closest airport access to Verbier and the surrounding Valais ski areas. Signature's handling ensures the transition from aircraft to the mountains is fast and well organized, with the helicopter option cutting transfer time dramatically.

Operations at Sion Airport
Crans-Montana is approximately 25km from the airport, about 30 minutes by car via the valley road and the winding climb up to the plateau. Verbier is roughly 40km, taking 45 to 50 minutes depending on conditions. For Zermatt, the drive is about 90km to Täsch (the last point cars can access), then a short train into the car-free village. Helicopter transfers to any of the major Valais resorts are available from operators based in the region and are common for guests avoiding mountain roads in poor weather. Pre-arranged car service with meet-and-greet is standard for private arrivals.
