About Swissport Executive Aviation

Swissport Executive Aviation handles private jet operations at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport through the airport's General Aviation Terminal, a dedicated facility separated from the main commercial terminals. Greek aviation regulations do not permit stand-alone FBOs in the traditional sense, so licensed ground handlers like Swissport fill that role, providing the full range of VIP services within the GAT infrastructure.

The General Aviation Terminal includes a business lounge with comfortable seating areas, a mini bar with snacks and refreshments, and a dedicated helipad for helicopter transfers into Athens or to the Greek islands. Swissport's PrivatPort brand, the company's premium executive aviation division, delivers ground handling services drawing on more than 25 years of experience across 65-plus locations on four continents.

Passengers arriving by private jet are met at the aircraft by Swissport's team, who manage all customs and immigration formalities, baggage handling, and escort to the lounge or directly to ground transportation. The process is designed to minimize wait times and keep VIP movements discreet and efficient.

Athens International Airport is located about 33 kilometers east of the city center in the Spata area, with highway connections making the drive to central Athens roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. The airport's two runways and 24-hour operations accommodate business jets of all sizes.

For charter passengers, the Athens GAT provides a welcome separation from the commercial terminals, which handle over 25 million passengers annually. Swissport coordinates luxury ground transportation, helicopter connections to Mykonos and other islands, yacht transfer logistics, and hotel arrangements. Greece's position as a gateway to the Aegean islands drives significant seasonal private aviation traffic, particularly from May through October.

The city center (Syntagma Square) is 27km west of the airport. By car or private transfer, expect 35 to 50 minutes in normal conditions, longer during Athens rush hour (typically 7am-9am and 5pm-8pm on weekdays). The Attiki Odos ring road is the primary route and is tolled. Car services and taxis are available at the airport; pre-booked private transfers are the standard choice for private jet passengers. Piraeus port, the departure point for ferries to the islands, is about 40km from the airport and takes 45 to 60 minutes by car. Metro Line 3 connects the airport to central Athens in roughly 40 minutes, useful for smaller groups or passengers traveling light.
