About Meridian (Signature Aviation)
Meridian's Teterboro FBO, now operating under Signature Aviation following a January 2024 acquisition, sits at 485 Industrial Avenue. The facility traces its roots to 1946, when former Army Air Force mechanic Ken Forester founded Mallard Air Service at Teterboro with his brother-in-law. That makes it the longest-running aviation business on the field. The current terminal building opened in 2006, with a 40,000 square foot maintenance hangar added in 2007. Before the Signature acquisition, Meridian was voted the number one FBO in the NYC metro area and ranked in the top 10 percent of FBOs in the Americas. The terminal still carries that legacy in its design and service culture.
The facility stands out for amenities that go well beyond the standard lounge-and-Wi-Fi setup. There is a private screening room, a pool table, sleep rooms, and a full gym with locker rooms and private showers. These were built for crews on long layovers, but passengers waiting for weather delays or connections benefit too. The lobby is warm and residential in feel, designed to put people at ease rather than impress with corporate gloss. Staff under the original Meridian operation were known for remembering repeat clients by name, a personal touch that larger FBO chains struggle to replicate.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is located on the field, which speeds up international arrivals. The concierge team arranges car service, limousines, and rental cars, and will provide complimentary transportation to the nearby Woodridge train station if you need NJ Transit access. Whether Signature maintains the distinctive Meridian character long-term remains to be seen, but the physical facility and its amenities are unchanged. If you used Meridian before and liked it, the experience is still recognizable. Ask your charter operator to route to Signature's East terminal (the former Meridian building) if you want this specific facility.

Operations at Teterboro Airport
Teterboro sits 12 miles from Midtown Manhattan. By car, the Route 46 corridor connects to the Lincoln Tunnel or George Washington Bridge. Without traffic, the drive runs 25-35 minutes; during peak commute hours it can exceed 90 minutes. Most FBOs arrange car service directly, and black car services such as Carey, EmpireCLS, and BostonCoach all service the airport. For passengers prioritizing speed into Manhattan, helicopter transfers from the Teterboro ramp to the Downtown Manhattan Heliport or East 34th Street Heliport cover the distance in roughly 8 minutes, FBOs can coordinate same-day bookings. New Jersey Transit's Meadowlands rail station is approximately 4 miles away, though most private passengers use car service.
