About Richmor Aviation

Richmor Aviation is the sole FBO at Schenectady County Airport, serving New York's Capital District region from a facility at 19 Airport Road in Scotia. The airport sits about 10 miles northwest of Albany and provides a quieter alternative to Albany International for private aviation, with a 7,001-foot primary runway that accommodates midsize and some super-midsize jets.

Richmor has deep roots at KSCH, operating both as the fixed-base operator and as a Part 135 charter provider with a fleet of luxury jets that fly worldwide from their Schenectady headquarters. This dual role means the staff understands charter passenger needs from both the operations and hospitality sides. The FBO provides fueling, hangar space, a pilot lounge, crew car service, and ground handling for transient aircraft.

The Capital District encompasses Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga Springs, giving passengers access to state government offices, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Union College, and the racing season at Saratoga Race Course in August. The Adirondack Park's southern reaches are about an hour north. General Electric's research campus and GlobalFoundries' semiconductor fabrication plant in Malta both generate regular corporate aviation traffic.

While the terminal facilities are functional rather than luxurious, Richmor's personalized service and competitive fuel pricing make it a practical choice for passengers visiting the region. The lack of commercial airline congestion means quick taxi times and minimal ramp delays. For travelers who need to be in the Albany area without the formality and fees of a larger commercial airport FBO, Schenectady County Airport through Richmor Aviation offers a streamlined experience.

Operations at Schenectady County Airport

Downtown Schenectady is about 4 miles and 10 minutes by car. Albany is roughly 15 miles east, around 20 minutes in normal traffic. Saratoga Springs is 30 miles north, approximately 35 minutes. Car service can be arranged through the FBO or by booking directly with regional providers in advance. There is no on-demand ride service reliably available at the airport itself, so pre-arranging ground transport is recommended.
