About Louisville Executive Aviation

Louisville Executive Aviation operates at Bowman Field, the oldest continuously operating commercial airfield in North America, founded in 1921 and rich with aviation history. Charles Lindbergh landed here in 1927, parts of the James Bond film Goldfinger were shot on the field in 1963, and the Art Deco administration building from 1929 still stands as a visual landmark.

For charter passengers, the location is hard to beat. Bowman Field is about 10 minutes from Churchill Downs, making it the preferred arrival point for the Kentucky Derby, the Oaks, and Breeders' Cup when the event comes to Louisville. During Derby week, traffic at the FBO quadruples as visitors arrive from across the country and around the world. Louisville Executive responds by staffing up, offering an all-day cookout on Oaks and Derby Day, doubling WingPoints rewards, and running a complimentary shuttle to and from the track.

The FBO provides hangar and tie-down space, ground handling, fuel service, and aircraft oxygen. There are no landing fees. The terminal has a passenger waiting area, and the staff arranges ground transportation including rental cars and car service.

Bistro Le Relais, a well-regarded French restaurant, occupies the historic terminal building on the field and has an outdoor deck overlooking the runway. It is a genuinely good restaurant, not just good by airport standards, and a pleasant place to wait for your crew or enjoy a meal before departure.

Bowman Field sits on 426 acres in the Bowman Field/Seneca neighborhood of Louisville, surrounded by mature residential streets. The downtown waterfront, Louisville Slugger Museum, and the bourbon distillery row along Main Street are all within a 15-minute drive. For passengers visiting Louisville, this FBO combines historic character with proximity that larger airports simply cannot match.

Downtown Louisville is about 4 miles west of the airport, typically a 10 to 15 minute drive depending on traffic. Churchill Downs is roughly 6 miles southwest, about 15 minutes by car. The East End suburbs and Norton Healthcare facilities are 20 to 30 minutes depending on destination. Car service and ride-share apps both serve the airport. During Kentucky Derby week, pre-book ground transport well in advance as availability tightens across the city.
