About Taughannock Aviation
Taughannock Aviation Corporation is the locally owned FBO at Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, operating since 1997 with over 50,000 square feet of new hangar facilities and a 9,000-square-foot FBO headquarters building. The facility serves as the gateway for visitors to Cornell University and Ithaca College, which together drive most of the private aviation traffic to this upstate New York field. Parents, donors, trustees, athletic teams, and corporate recruiters make up a steady stream of charter arrivals, with traffic peaking around graduation weekends, football Saturdays, and the start and end of academic terms. Taughannock provides aircraft fueling, hangar accommodations, tie-downs, A&P maintenance service, and ground support equipment, along with an arrival e-Concierge service that coordinates logistics before you land. The staff can help with local ground transportation, hotel recommendations, and restaurant suggestions. Cornell's campus is about 10 minutes from the airport. Beyond the universities, the Ithaca area is at the southern tip of Cayuga Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine region, home to over 70 vineyards along the surrounding lakeshores. Taughannock Falls State Park, from which the company takes its name, features a 215-foot waterfall that exceeds Niagara Falls in height. The airport has a 6,601-foot primary runway at 1,099 feet elevation, handling light and midsize jets without difficulty. Taughannock Aviation also operates a Part 135 charter service and aircraft management program, so they understand the full aviation lifecycle from the operator's perspective.

Operations at Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport
Downtown Ithaca is about 4 miles south and takes 10 minutes by car under normal conditions. Cornell's main campus is roughly 6 miles and about 15 minutes. The airport has rental car counters on site (Avis, Enterprise, Hertz) which is the most reliable option given limited local car service. Rideshare apps work but availability is inconsistent, especially late evenings. Syracuse is about 60 miles northeast, roughly an hour's drive. Rochester is about 90 miles northwest, around 1 hour 45 minutes.
