About Desert Jet Center HDN
Desert Jet Center is a newer FBO operation at Yampa Valley Airport, bringing the Palm Springs-based company's hospitality approach to Colorado ski country. The facility features two brand-new heated hangars, each spanning 28,800 square feet, designed to accommodate aircraft as large as the Gulfstream G800 and Bombardier Global 8000. These hangars were developed by Wiens Real Estate Ventures and HDN Hangar Investment Group, with Desert Jet managing operations under a business development agreement. The heated storage is a major selling point at an airport where winter temperatures routinely drop below zero and overnight snow accumulation can be significant. Yampa Valley Airport sits at 6,602 feet elevation near Hayden, Colorado, about 25 miles west of Steamboat Springs. Steamboat is known for its light, dry champagne powder snow, natural hot springs, and a genuine Western ranching town atmosphere that feels different from the glitzier Colorado resorts. In summer, the area draws visitors for fly fishing, horseback riding, and hiking. Desert Jet Center provides personalized concierge service that can coordinate ground transportation to the resort, restaurant reservations, and activity planning. The airport's 9,998-foot runway handles all business jet types without restriction. Winter ski season drives a major spike in private aviation traffic, and having two large heated hangars means aircraft owners can avoid the ice and snow buildup that creates delays at FBOs without adequate shelter. Desert Jet has won multiple FBO awards at their Palm Springs home base, and they have brought that same service-first mentality to this mountain location.
