Republic Jet Center
East Farmingdale, NY
About Republic Jet Center
Republic Jet Center operates at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, Long Island, one of New York State's busiest general aviation airports and third-largest airport overall. Located just 30 miles east of Manhattan, the facility is undergoing a massive expansion that is reshaping its footprint and capabilities.
The FBO broke ground on a $28 million flagship facility in 2023 to replace its north location, featuring 55,000 square feet of hangar space capable of sheltering the latest ultra-long-range business jets, plus a modern terminal with a cafe and full passenger amenities. An even larger multi-parcel expansion announced in late 2025 adds over 100,000 square feet of new hangar and FBO space, with completion expected in 2026. When finished, Republic Jet Center will have one of the largest private aviation campuses in the New York metropolitan area.
Republic Airport features a 6,827-foot primary runway with instrument approaches, handling most business jet categories including super-midsize and large-cabin types. The airport's Long Island location provides direct access to the Gold Coast, the Hamptons corridor via the Long Island Expressway, and Manhattan via the Southern State Parkway and various bridges and tunnels.
For charter passengers, Republic Airport offers a compelling alternative to Teterboro, particularly for those with destinations on Long Island or in the eastern New York suburbs. The airport avoids the North Jersey traffic and George Washington Bridge congestion that Teterboro-bound passengers often face.
Republic Jet Center's investment in new infrastructure signals confidence in the facility's future as a major private aviation hub. For passengers arriving today, the construction means the FBO is actively improving, and the finished product will be among the most modern and capable in the New York area.
Amenities and services
Operations at Republic Airport
Manhattan is roughly 35 road miles west, with drive times ranging from 45 minutes in light traffic to well over 90 minutes during peak Long Island Expressway congestion. Budget 60 to 75 minutes as a realistic average for midday departures. Car service is the standard option; the airport is not served by LIRR directly, though Farmingdale station is about 2 miles north. For destinations further east on Long Island, Republic is a practical staging point: the Hamptons are another 60 to 90 miles east depending on the village. Passengers flying into Republic for Hamptons destinations often use car service for the full drive, though helicopter connections to East Hampton Airport (KHTO) are also available from providers operating at the field.
