About BGR Aviation
BGR Aviation is the airport-owned FBO at Bangor International Airport, the premier transatlantic tech stop in the northeastern United States. Positioned on the Great Circle Route between North America and Europe, Bangor has built a 50-year reputation as the most efficient first-stop clearance point for international flights entering U.S. airspace. The 11,440-foot runway handles the largest business jets and commercial aircraft, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection maintains a regional headquarters on site with 24/7 availability at no additional fee. Average clearance time for a full government technical stop runs 60 to 90 minutes, which is exceptionally fast for international processing. For charter passengers on transatlantic flights, this means a brief, well-organized stop for fuel, customs, and immigration before continuing to a final domestic destination. The FBO operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a full-service maintenance team on the field. The terminal includes a conference room, weather and flight planning capabilities, and a fully equipped kitchen. BGR Aviation's staff is experienced with the specific requirements of international handling, including eAPIS filing, customs documentation, and crew coordination across time zones. Beyond its tech-stop role, Bangor also serves as a gateway to Maine's Acadia National Park, the Maine coast, and the state's inland recreation areas. Ground transportation can be arranged for passengers continuing locally. The combination of long runway, 24-hour customs, experienced international handling staff, and competitive fuel pricing makes BGR the default choice for transatlantic repositioning stops.
