About ABD Airport
ABD Airport operates the FBO and handling services at Bolzano Airport, a field in Italy's South Tyrol region used exclusively for general aviation, charter flights, and the regional carrier SkyAlps. There are no major commercial airline operations competing for ramp space or runway time, which means private jet passengers experience a calm, uncongested arrival.
The airport was acquired in 2019 by ABD Holding, a private consortium of entrepreneurs who purchased it from the South Tyrol government for 3.8 million euros. Since then, the runway has been extended to 1,462 meters, and the General Aviation Terminal has been equipped with comfortable waiting areas for private jet clients.
ABD Airport Services provides ground support including fueling, aircraft parking, and coordination with additional handling agents like Sky Services for specialized needs. The facility sits at an elevation of 240 meters in the Adige valley, surrounded by the Dolomite mountains that make this region one of the most scenic arrival corridors in European aviation.
For charter passengers, Bolzano is the closest airport to the western Dolomites ski resorts and summer hiking areas. Popular destinations like Merano, the Gardena Valley, and the Seiser Alm plateau are within 30 to 60 minutes by car. The city of Bolzano itself blends Italian and Austrian cultures, with a historic center, outdoor markets, and the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology housing the famous Otzi ice mummy.
The runway length limits the aircraft types that can operate here, so passengers should confirm with their operator that their specific jet can handle the field. Larger business jets may need to use Innsbruck or Verona as alternatives. But for aircraft that fit the runway, Bolzano delivers an intimate, efficient arrival with genuine proximity to the Dolomites that no larger airport can match.
