About Rapid Avionics

Rapid Avionics is the full-service FBO at Rapid City Regional Airport, the closest commercial airport to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, located approximately 32 miles to the southwest. The facility at 3875 Airport Road provides fuel service with Jet A and 100LL, tie-downs, hangar space, catering, oxygen, and airframe and powerplant repair. The terminal includes a pilot lounge, flight planning area, and basic passenger amenities. The airport operates with a 8,701-foot primary runway that accommodates all business jet types, and its 3,204-foot elevation means altitude performance adjustments are minimal. For charter passengers, Rapid City serves as the gateway to the Black Hills region of western South Dakota, one of the most concentrated collections of natural and historical attractions in the American West. Mount Rushmore and the ongoing Crazy Horse Memorial are the headline destinations, but the area also includes Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Deadwood's historic gaming district, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally venue. Badlands National Park is about 75 miles east, where dramatically eroded butte formations and mixed-grass prairie create a landscape unlike anywhere else in the country. The city of Rapid City itself has invested in its downtown, with the Art Alley public art installation, a series of presidential statues along Main Street, and a growing collection of restaurants and breweries. Rental cars are available at the airport terminal for exploring the region. The Black Hills draw leisure travelers year-round, with summer bringing the highest volume of private aviation traffic. Corporate travel related to Ellsworth Air Force Base and the region's mining and ranching industries provides steady business aviation demand throughout the year. Rapid Avionics delivers the essential FBO services needed to support travel to one of America's most distinctive destinations.
