About Modern Aviation
Modern Aviation at LaGuardia is one of the most strategically located FBOs in the country, operating inside the historic Marine Air Terminal on the west end of the airport. Built in 1940 in the Art Deco style, the terminal originally served flying boat operations and retains its distinctive circular architecture and James Brooks mural in the rotunda. For charter passengers, arriving here means you are just 6 to 8 miles from Midtown Manhattan, closer than any other airport option in the New York metro area.
The FBO operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, handling private and charter flights with full ground support including fueling, baggage handling, and vehicle coordination. The terminal includes a VIP lounge, concierge services, and Wi-Fi. Ground transportation is where this location truly excels. A car to Midtown takes 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic, and the FBO can arrange sedans, SUVs, or limousines. Some passengers are literally at their Manhattan hotel or office in under 20 minutes from wheels down.
LaGuardia is an official U.S. port of entry, so international flights can clear customs on arrival with advance arrangements. Border preclearance is available for private aircraft, though reservations with CBP are required.
The airport operates under noise restrictions and curfew rules, and slot coordination applies to all operations, so your operator will need to plan accordingly. Ramp space is limited compared to Teterboro or Westchester, which means advance arrangements are important during peak periods.
For passengers whose destination is Manhattan, the East Side, or anywhere in the city's core, Modern Aviation at LGA offers an arrival experience that saves meaningful time compared to the alternatives. The combination of proximity, historic charm, and professional handling makes it a preferred choice for frequent New York travelers.

Operations at LaGuardia Airport
Midtown Manhattan is about 8 miles from LGA, but drive times vary widely with traffic, typically 20 to 45 minutes. The Queens Midtown Tunnel and RFK Bridge are the main routes. Car service and black car companies operate from the airport. For time-sensitive arrivals, helicopter transfer to the East 34th Street Heliport takes roughly 7 minutes and bypasses ground traffic entirely. Downtown Manhattan and the Financial District add another 4 to 5 miles to the drive.
