About Modern Aviation
Modern Aviation is the exclusive FBO at John F. Kennedy International Airport, operating from the General Aviation Terminal known as Building 145 on the northwest side of the airport campus. This is the only private aviation facility at JFK and possesses the airport's exclusive helipad, making it the sole option for both fixed-wing and rotary arrivals. The terminal includes an exclusive boardroom, crew shuttle services, and a staff experienced in handling VIP and VVIP charter operations around the clock. Services cover aircraft fueling, hangar space rentals, ground handling, de-icing, concierge support, and maintenance coordination. The 24/7 operation accommodates the irregular schedules of international private flights and high-profile arrivals. JFK's four runways and extensive international infrastructure make it essential for transcontinental and transatlantic private flights that need customs clearance and long runway lengths. Landing fees at JFK are among the highest in the region, which is a factor charter operators build into their pricing. The airport is in Queens, about 15 miles from Midtown Manhattan, with ground transportation taking anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic. The FBO staff can coordinate car services, security details, and other logistics for passengers who require discretion. JFK handles more international flights than any other airport in the Americas, and the private aviation terminal exists within that global context. For charter passengers arriving from overseas or departing on international missions, Modern Aviation at JFK provides the only dedicated private terminal experience at New York's premier international airport.
Amenities and services
Operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport
JFK sits in Jamaica, Queens, approximately 15 miles from Midtown Manhattan. By car or car service, expect 30 to 45 minutes in light traffic and 60 to 90 minutes during peak hours. The Van Wyck Expressway is the primary route and backs up severely on weekday afternoons. Most charter passengers arrange a car service pickup directly at the FBO, which avoids the commercial terminal taxi queues entirely. Blade helicopter transfers connect JFK to the West Side of Manhattan (30th Street Heliport) in approximately 8 minutes. For surface transport to Brooklyn or Long Island, drive times are shorter than Manhattan runs. The AirTrain connects the airport to the New York City subway (A train and E train) and the Long Island Rail Road at Jamaica Station, but private jet passengers rarely use it when direct car service is available at the FBO.
