About Wiseman Aviation
Wiseman Aviation is the sole FBO at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, one of the highest-elevation commercial airports in the United States at 7,014 feet above sea level. The airport sits in a Ponderosa pine forest and features a single 8,800-foot runway that provides ample length for business jet operations, even with the density altitude adjustments required at this elevation.
The FBO provides fueling, oxygen service (essential at this altitude), nitrogen, deicing, cargo handling, and air stairs. A maintenance operation on the field handles inspections and repairs for transient and based aircraft. Flagstaff Pulliam has an active control tower and multiple instrument approaches including an ILS, giving the airport reliable access in most weather conditions.
Wiseman Aviation serves a diverse clientele ranging from corporate travelers and charter passengers to aerial firefighting operations, military flights, and medevac services. The variety reflects Flagstaff's role as a regional hub for northern Arizona's public lands, emergency services, and tourism economy.
For charter passengers, Flagstaff is the premier arrival point for Grand Canyon visits. The South Rim is approximately 80 miles north via Highway 180, about a 90-minute drive through some of Arizona's most scenic terrain. Flagstaff itself is a vibrant mountain town at 7,000 feet with Northern Arizona University, a historic downtown district, and access to the San Francisco Peaks, Arizona's highest mountains. Sedona's red rock country is just 30 miles south.
The elevation adds operational considerations that pilots must plan for, including reduced aircraft performance on hot summer days. But for charter passengers, the high altitude means cooler temperatures year-round compared to the desert cities below. Wiseman Aviation provides capable, experienced service at an airport whose setting and strategic location make it one of the most useful in the Southwest.
